Rule 1) Eat anything at anytime you want, but…

I really mean this. Don’t stop eating anything you currently eat. The biggest problem with Americans is not really WHAT we eat. The French have the fattest, most caloric packed food in the world but they’re not as fat as Americans. Therefore, the food is not the issue. Really, it’s not.

Rule 2) Take only one bite per minute, and…

The problem with us humans these days is time. We barely have time to eat, so we rush it. We have things to do and places to be. We live in a society that values time above all else. Sadly, that means even above our own health. This has to stop. One bite per minute forces us to stop that. I’m talking a normal bite too, not like the one a cartoon character takes when they eat a whole sandwich in one bite. The bite should be small enough that you can easily fit another bite of equal size in your mouth and still not have stuff falling out.

A drink of a beverage counts as one bite. So you can choose to either take a drink of your soda or a bite of your sandwich per minute, not both. Water is the only free-for-all drink. I tend to drink a lot of water while waiting for my next bite, I think it helps make me feel satisfied sooner too.

This is where you will most likely fail so be wary! Use a watch or your phone to keep track of your minute. Only one bite per minute regardless of what it is. And don’t forget to monitor the size of your bites! Keep them small.

Rule 3) Stop when you’re no longer hungry.

The key thing to note here is not “Stop when you’re about to explode”. It’s not “Stop when you have to unbutton your pants” because of the inches you just gained. Heck, it’s not even “Stop when you’re full.” It is to “stop when you’re no longer hungry”. Many people eat so fast, due to 15 or 20 huge mouthfuls per minute, that they’ve done stuffed themselves before the stomach can even tell the brain, “Yo, we have enough.” With a minute between each bite, you give your stomach that opportunity to communicate with your brain.
